Bellco's Generosity Benefits Learning Source Student
DENVER--June 5, 2002--Bellco Credit Union recently awarded a $10,000 scholarship to Metropolitan State College to Amber McDonald, a Learning Source for Adults and Families General Educational Development (GED) graduate.
The funds for the scholarship were generated by an annual Bellco Credit Union golf tournament held to benefit the community.
McDonald was chosen from a field of applicants based on her excellent GED test scores and the quality of her essay. "The Learning Source, Metro State College and Bellco are all trying to fill the needs of members of our community. Whether those needs are educational or financial, we want to be sure every member of the community has access to services that will improve their lives," says Kathleen Demma, Bellco's Director of Marketing.

The Learning Source for Adults and Families is a local non-profit organization working to educate metro Denver adults and families. Since 1964, The Learning Source has been providing adult basic education, GED preparation and English language acquisition classes for adults in the Denver metro area. Since 1989, the organization has been in the forefront of the development of family literacy programs that have been recognized by the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and the National Center for Family Literacy in Louisville, Ky.
