Corporate Spelling Bee to be Held May 15 at Downtown’s Skyline Park
 
 
DENVER—May 1, 2009—Can you spell “friendly competition”? Come watch representatives from Denver area businesses and organizations who will be competing in the 2nd Annual Tattered Cover Downtown Spelling Bee to benefit The Learning Source (www.coloradoliteracy.org). The free event takes place on Friday, May 15, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Skyline Park, 16th and Arapahoe Streets in Downtown Denver.
 
Corporate teams of three people will compete for prizes by correctly spelling a series of words from Webster’s Third New International Dictionary. 9News Anchor Gregg Moss will serve as emcee for the event and celebrity judges will be Denver Post Columnist Bill Husted, Pete Mackay from 99.5 The Mountain radio and Robert Sanchez, staff write for 5280 magazine.
 
Event entry fees from the teams will benefit the adult and family literacy programs offered through The Learning Source. “We invite everyone to stop by during their lunch break to watch the fun,” says Susan Lythgoe, executive director of The Learning Source. “We’ll have musical entertainment and prizes as well as the fun of watching our spellers compete.”
 
Tattered Cover Book Store is the presenting sponsor for the Spelling Bee.
