LAKEWOOD,
CO—July 17,
2009—Metro area residents who want to achieve
their GED (General Educational Development) diploma have a new, convenient
place to take their exams.
The Learning
Source recently expanded its
GED testing schedule at its
Belmar
Center,
455 S. Pierce
Street in Lakewood.
Established
in 1964, The Learning
Source offers adult and family literacy
programs—including GED preparation--at 14 locations throughout the
Denver metro
area.
“We invite
all candidates who are interested and eligible to take the GED exam to
complete their testing here at the Belmar Center.
Students who attend Learning
Source GED preparation classes are eligible to
apply for a scholarship to help them cover part of the $90 cost of taking
the five GED exams,” explains Janet
Paulson, GED Examiner for the Belmar GED Testing
Center. “Our state-certified
GED examiners offer exams on multiple days and times throughout each
month. We also offer
practice GED tests every Friday for only $10. Check
out our website at http://www.coloradoliteracy.org
for our testing calendar, or call us at 303-957-2839.”
In
Colorado, 17.63
percent of adults do not have a high school diploma. The GED tests allow
people to obtain a high school diploma by taking and passing a multi-part
test.
“In addition
to helping adults attain their GED diploma, we are developing a resource
center of materials to assist them in taking the next step beyond their
GED and enrolling in Colorado’s community colleges and wide variety of
trade and technical schools,” Paulson says.
