Anderson or Jennifer Dykes, Anderson & Associates Public Relations, Inc., 303-758-1118 The Learning Source's Susan Lythgoe Appointed to Boards LAKEWOOD, CO--Feb. 15, 2002 -- Susan Lythgoe, the executive director of The Learning Source for Adults and Families, was recently appointed to the advisory board of the Family Literacy Alliance in Louisville, Ky., and the board of directors of the Alameda Gateway Community Association. The Family Literacy Alliance (FLA), sponsored by the National Center for Family Literacy, is a national, diverse network of family literacy practitioners and supporters dedicated to the advancement of family literacy. FLA seeks to promote, strengthen and connect the family literacy community. The Alameda Gateway Community Association (AGCA) is a local, non-profit organization established to enhance the economic vitality of the West Alameda Corridor by promoting business interests and encouraging cooperative initiatives throughout the community. "We are very excited to have Susan join our board of directors," says George Valuck, executive director of AGCA. "With The Learning Source now headquartered in Lakewood, we thought Susan was a natural addition to our board. We look forward to working with her and The Learning Source." Lythgoe has served as executive director of The Learning Source since 1993. She also currently serves on the Aurora Public Schools District Accountability Advisory Committee. Lythgoe has previously served as Chair of the Colorado Adult Literacy Commission and was a member of the 1998 Mayor's Human Investment Task Force for the City and County of Denver. She has consulted in the planning and implementation of high-risk youth, family and adult education programs nationwide and has directed programs in the Denver metro area for the past 11 years. In 1995, she received the "Distinguished Leadership Award" from the Colorado Association of Continuing and Adult Educators." Since 1964, The Learning Source has been providing adult basic education, GED preparation and English language acquisition classes for adults in the metro Denver area. Since 1989, the organization has been in the forefront of the development of family literacy programs that have been recognized by the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and the National Center for Family Literacy in Louisville, Ky.
